The FIRST Robotics World Championship is an international competition that brings together the top high school robotics teams from around the globe. Held annually in Houston, the event celebrates innovation, collaboration and the application of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Teams compete in a high-energy environment, showcasing their custom-built robots in a series of challenging matches while networking with peers, industry professionals and mentors from around the world. This year’s event is scheduled for April 16–19.
This year’s FIRST Robotics Competition game, titled REEFSCAPE, challenges teams to build robots capable of harvesting algae, collecting coral and completing complex scoring tasks in a simulated underwater ecosystem. During the game’s autonomous phase, robots operate independently to score coral and harvest algae. For the remainder of the match, students control their robots as they navigate strategic tasks such as dislodging and delivering algae, scoring on a reef structure, and attaching to a barge before time expires.
